On 5 – 6 May 2014, His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama will give his first ever teachings in the Baltic States on wisdom and compassion – the two main aspects of the Buddhist spiritual path.
«Just like a bird relying on its two wings is flying freely across an open sky, a practitioner is ascending the spiritual path relying on wisdom and compassion», ‒ often says His Holiness quoting great Buddhist thinkers of the past.
The spiritual leader will teach the fundamentals of Buddhist philosophy based on two classical texts – the Heart Sutra and the 37 Practices of Bodhisattvas by Gyalsey Thogmey Zangpo. The teachings will be given at the numerous requests of the Buddhists from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Russia.
Tickets for the teachings will go on sale on 5 March 2014. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will give teachings primarily in Tibetan. The teachings will be translated into Latvian, Russian and English. The translations will be broadcast in the FM range. Lunch is included in the price of your ticket.

The teachings will take place at the International Exhibition Centre Ķīpsala at the Ķīpsala island on the Daugava River, 10 minutes by tram form the historical part of Riga. The Exhibition Hall II seats 5000 persons and will be equipped with large screens to provide good view of the stage for all the participants.
