On 5 – 6 May 2014, His Holiness the Fourteenth Dalai Lama gave his first ever teachings in the Baltic States on wisdom and compassion – the two main aspects of the Buddhist spiritual path.
«Just like a bird relying on its two wings is flying freely across an open sky, a practitioner is ascending the spiritual path relying on wisdom and compassion», ‒ often says His Holiness quoting great Buddhist thinkers of the past.
The spiritual leader taught the fundamentals of Buddhist philosophy based on two classical texts – the Heart Sutra and the 37 Practices of Bodhisattvas by Gyalsey Thogmey Zangpo. The teachings were given at the numerous requests of the Buddhists from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Russia.
